Seniors Last Day!
Congratulations!

Senior Testimonial

By:  Rebecca Seigal

Coming into freshman year, it’s nearly impossible to predict what the next four years of your life are going to be like. On my first day of freshman year, as the seniors ran screaming through the halls, excitement and nerves filled my body. I knew high school would be difficult, but I couldn’t wait to be just like the seniors, running through the halls, about to complete my last year with my best friends. Now, it’s hard to believe that this is my last week of school before I graduate in June.

I would first like to thank certain teachers who taught me more than just the subjects. Freshman year, Mrs D’nofrio challenged everyone in physical science, forcing us to study for hours for each test if we wanted to even come close to passing. Staying after to work on the problem packets with her was such a help and such a good lesson to learn my first year of high school; it’s actually good to stay after and often is more helpful than you could ever imagine.

Sophomore year, Mrs Pappetti was one of the hardest teachers I’ve ever had, but one of the most personable and approachable. Her door is always open for help, whether it’s help because you’re not doing so hot in her class, or personal help outside of school. She basically becomes a second mom to anyway that goes to her.

My junior year, my history teacher, Mrs Power, stepped in place of Mrs Pappetti as I spent most of the class discussing my life with her rather than learning the material like I was supposed to (whoops; I just had more homework each night). Now with two “mom”s at school, I always felt like I had an adult who I could talk to.

My accelerated English teacher, Mr. Perryman, taught me that my writing was actually terrible and I had no comprehensive skills before his class. Fearful of the D-minosaurus, we all began the year with pretty low grades, but his jokes and pranks and overall B grade in the end taught me to lighten up because it would all turn out okay.

Mrs. Stoker brought me out of my shell through J2, as I had to be on camera, teaching me skills for presenting and speaking.

Lastly, I had the pleasure of growing up with Mrs Piscia, and having her as a teacher throughout high school is a gift to any student. She teaches by demonstration, as the bravest, strongest, and sweetest person I have ever met. Thank you to all my teachers in high school for guiding me along the way, preparing me for my future.

I would also like to thank my best friends. High school would be unbearable without an awesome group of friends. I was lucky enough to have best friends who loved to laugh, goof off, and always have each other’s backs. The amount of memories we have made together is limitless, and I would never ask for better friends to survive high school with.

If I had to give any advice to freshman, I would say three things:

1.) always do your work and get good grades, unless you understand the material perfectly in class, then your homework is pointless.

2.) surround yourself with people you trust and enjoy being around, they’ll be your saving grace throughout your 4 years here.

3.) don’t worry too much, it will all be okay in the end so just enjoy yourself and loosen up a bit.
