Review: The Maze Runner

Review: The Maze Runner

By Samantha Mack

I found The Maze Runner very interesting and suspenseful to watch. However, the book was signifcantly more enjoyable. The movie and book differed greatly, as the movie left out several important parts in the book. For example, Teresa and Thomas have the ability to read each other’s minds in the book. However, in the movie, this is completely omitted. Other differences include that in the movie the grievers were made of metal, and the time Thomas spent inside the Glade prior to entering the maze was significantly shortened. While watching the film, I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what unexpected event will occur, such as when the grievers would appear. However, the end of the movie was pretty creepy, as it tried to explain “The Flare” and what exactly the maze was. The sound effects were integrated well into the film. In addition, Dylan O’Brien was a phenomenal actor. His emotion and facial expressions were on point. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys suspense, action, and mystery.
