Have a Wonderful Break!

Week 6 rec ball power rankings

Week 6 rec ball power rankings

By: Luke McGrath

1. Morin (8-0): This Morin team is pretty damn good. They have now beaten Meyer, Smith, Barry, Vanheest, and Bersani. Scott Morin has created a team that may be able to go undefeated. I know a lot of people criticize how seriously this team takes everything and their two hour practices but facts are facts and the truth is team Morin is doing all the little things better then every other team and until another team is able to reach their level, no one will beat them. From now on if Shaw doesn’t dunk in a game, that game will be automatically considered a loss.

2. Meyer (6-2): While some people may feel a win over Philbrook this weekend does not really prove anything for this team, this Sunday was deffinetly a trap game. Philbrook finally had their full team together and they were able to keep the game pretty close in the first half. Steady contributions from Avery, Kevin, and Moiz make this team look very good. With only an easy game left, team Meyer should be able to keep rolling into the playoffs.

3. Smith (6-2): This was probably one of team Smith’s best wins so far. Going up against a good scoring team in Hillier, Smith was gonna need everyone to contribute in order to win. Cord finally showed up in the 2nd half this week after a tough couple of games. His scoring, along with Declan’s threes and CJ getting his, team Smith seems like they finally may have found their scoring stride. They did miss a lot of free throws during crunch time and will need to work on that to keep winning in the playoffs.

4. Barry (5-3): Even though Barry lost this week, Barry is back. Joe Fitz really showed his ability this week with a cool 19 points and a solid performance rebounding. Snagi also showed that he can score with the best of them this week. Clearly what this team will need to beat a team Morin or any of the other elite teams is scoring from their role players. Eli and Logan especially will need to score more points in each game so that team Barry can fully maximize their potential.

5. Vanheest (6-2): After scumming there way through the last few weeks, Vanheest finally went up against a worthy opponent and proved they are for real. Greg and Chris are proving that their chemistry can do more then just create flashy plays, it can win games. Those two plus Vanheest and Tommy give this team a really athletic 4 playmakers. If this team can beat Bersani they just may be able to beat some of the other top teams so look out for these guys.

6. Bersani (5-3): As good of a week as this was for Vanheest, it was equally as bad for Bersani. Losing by 10 to a very beatable team Vanheest is not good at all. I know everyone on the team will complain that they lost because Frenchy wasn’t there, but I don’t believe that for a second. This team played exactly as most people expected them to the whole season with all of the burden falling on Correnti’s shoulders and him not having enough of a supporting cast to win. Hopefully this team can get back in sync by playoff time.

7. Ruhl (4-4): I know team Ruhl only beat Khoury by 8 but that is the type of games these guys like to play. Basically every game they have played this year, whether it’s against Morin, or Smith, or Khoury has been close and these guys seem to be figuring out how to score at exactly the right time. Wong scoring 21 is what this team will need. If Marty can have a consistent scorer to dish the ball to, he will deffinetly be able to get more open looks for himself. If this team keeps it up they may pull off an upset or two in the playoffs.

8. Kelley (4-4): Kelley had a good game this weekend. They played an inferior team and made it show. Polich and company continue to be one of the harder teams to judge and I am still not truly convinced that Polich has enough help around him to win in the playoffs. I also feel that Polich is still settling into his role as team leader and will need to really command his team if they are going to win.

9. Hillier (4-4): Going up against a good team Smith on sunday this team had a pretty tough task ahead of them and while they were close, they were not quite ready to play with this team. Hillier is going to need scoring to come from people other then just Liu and Eugene and I am not sure if they can get it. For this team to have success in the playoffs look for Liu and Eugene to both be putting up outstanding numbers.

10. Guilbeau (3-5): Decent win this week over Riela. This team is slowly becoming better and better and has played some tight games with some good teams, so it is impossible to count this team totally out of it. They do have three great athletes in Lis, Tmac, and Bongi, all of which have the skill to takeover a game. I don’t see this team going too far but maybe just maybe they can pull off an upset.

11. Mac (3-5): Mac has been dropping week after week and even though I think that everyone would agree that Walthal is a great player and Horsefall is also very talented, this team lacks chemistry and any other players that can really win a game. Losing by 20 to Kelley this week only continued their plunge towards the bottom of the rankings and I do not see this team coming back up anytime soon.

12. Khoury (1-7): Even though they lost, sunday was a very well played game from Khoury this week. They showed a lot of guts cutting Ruhl’s lead down to single digits during the fourth quarter. Gonzo is going to need to score more for this team to win, 9 is just not enough. Jalen had a good game but Gonzo is the main scorer and will have to keep scoring for this team to have any chance.

13. Riela (1-7): Losing to Guilbeau this week seems to be the official nail in the coffin for this team. If Vondy and Ben can not lead their team over a sub-par Guilbeau team then I do not see them beating anyone other then Philbrook. They’re only hope is if Vondy can miraculously score 30 a game and carry this team to a playoff victory.

14. Philbrook (0-8): Philbrook finally had a full lineup this Sunday but they ran into a very good Meyer team. Burke, Jrod, and Barrett all played decently but it will be impossible for me to place them anywhere but 14th until they can win a game. It seems there only chance to get a win will come in their next game because they will need a miracle to beat whichever top 5 team they play in the first round. Saying that, this team does still have solid athletes so maybe they can pull it off
