Countdown to April Break!
Have a Wonderful Break!

Tackling FISHinc

By Lucas Silva and Jake Foster

It all started with their shared passion for fishing. The young entrepreneurs Adam Gibbs, 18, and Nick Bongi, 18, decided to take the tackle box industry a step further with their production of ProGlo FISHinc tackle systems.

“Some may ask what’s so unique about our product, saying it’s just a tackle box with a light. But there’s more to it. Our Product has four distinctive functions,” states Gibbs. The ProGlo tackle boxes have a 10ft radius of luminance, with a detachable light that may also go underwater to attract the fish. Another cool feature that it holds is the built in usb port allowing you to charge your phone.

The idea behind the product came from prior experiences that sparked their innovative brains. During a night fishing trip in Sanibel Island, Florida near Gibbs’s vacation home, Gibbs noticed the struggle and the lack of light around him. He said there were many people that would come across him with a flashlight, glow light or even a phone light and he thought of the great idea to put a portable light in the tackle box so you can see while fishing.

“Everyone holding a flashlight, using their iPhone light to try to place a lure or unhook a fish, and from time to time our light source would fall into the water” he states. To keep the lights from fumbling around Gibbs and Bongi placed them in the tackle box, and that’s where the idea first transpired. The process hasn’t been easy, but Gibbs and Bongi are reaching their final steps of the long process of making their product successful. After finishing up their kick starter campaign, FISHinc has taken a big step forward in recognition. Even though the goal wasn’t met, many people showed interest in the product as they reached half their goal raising about $15,000 but sadly falling short of their $30,000 goal.

Now Gibbs and Bongi are set to find new ways to find funding for their manufacturing process as they also wait for their patent to be approved. Gibbs has recently committed to Northeastern University as he will be playing for the schools soccer team. When Gibbs isn’t working hard on his future business FISHinc, Gibbs is working hard on the soccer field. He has dedicated most of his life to the sport and has worked so hard to achieve his goal. Northeastern was a perfect fit for Gibbs and he is very excited to get there.

“Soccer has always been a passion of mine, and now I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to play competitively at a different level of play”. Gibbs and Bongi have been working diligently since day one and these two young entrepreneurs have a long and great path ahead of them.
