Regretting You released in theaters October 24th, 2025, and was immediately a success. This drama and romance movie is based off of the novel written by Colleen Hoover that came out in 2019. The cast included notable names such as Mckenna Grace, who plays Clara Grant, Mason Thames, who plays Miller Adams, Dave Franco, who plays Jonah Sullivan, and Allison Williams, who plays Morgan Grant.
Regretting You follows Morgan Grant, whose life falls apart when her husband and sister die together in a tragic car accident. This event also heavily impacts her daughter Clara, who was incredibly close with the family members that passed. In the aftermath, deeply hidden family betrayals come to light, which force both Morgan and Clara to confront grief, guilt, and the true nature of their relationships with those around them. As tensions grow between Morgan and Clara, the two of them must learn how to move forward, confront the truth, and rediscover who they are.
I went to see the movie a few days after its release, and I really liked it. I thought that it was an entertaining, and enjoyable watch. I was thoroughly engaged throughout the whole movie, and I would definitely recommend it to others. However, the movie did leave out a few key components from the book that fans have commented on. There are a lot of extra details and context that the movie doesn’t really touch upon, including but not limited to who is really the father of Elijah, the explanation of why Miller always has lollipops, and the significance of the color orange. Personally, as someone who has both read the book and watched the movie, I don’t feel as though the absence of these plot points took away from the overall film, and the movie did not feel incomplete.
I would say that my favorite scene from the movie was the very final scene, where Miller shows Clara a film that he had been working on for her for over 2 years. The moment was really sweet and wholesome, and the fact that the entire family was able to come together and begin to feel happy again and heal after all of the trauma they had experienced over the past year was extremely heartwarming.
Overall, I would definitely recommend that everyone goes to watch this movie. I had an amazing experience watching Regretting You, and it is definitely worth the watch. I wouldn’t be surpised if I ended up going back to the theaters to watch it again, that is just how terrific I thought it was.
