JV Girls’ Lacrosse Looks Forward to Competitive Season

JV Girls’ Lacrosse Looks Forward to Competitive Season

By Alli Avola

The Westborough JV girls’ lacrosse team started off the season on Friday, April 1 with a 15-2 win against Leominster. On Thursday, April 7 at the WHS turf, the team will take on Groton Dunstable, the only team the Rangers lost to last year in their near undefeated season. The girls will look forward to playing their rivals the Algonquin T-Hawks. They beat the T-Hawks in both of the games that they played them in last season and are hoping to pull off another win this season.

The team’s coach, Molly Brogan, hopes that each player can improve in skill and knowledge both individually and as a team. Her goals for the season include making the season memorable and having players build lasting relationships with one another while being competitive and winning games. Brogan believes that her team has a lot of talent, versatility, and a positive attitude.

“Spring is always such a great time of year and we are fortunate to have such a talented group of girls who have all played a lot of lacrosse and work so well together,” says Brogan.

When asked about the upcoming season, sophomore player Cassidy Sams comments, “I feel like everyone on the team has a passion for lacrosse and is willing to improve. We had a really strong game against Leominster but I still believe that we can improve on communication and defense.”

The girls are still learning how their fellow teammates work and play, but are improving with every practice. They are looking forward to both a fun and competitive season.
