Rangers Show Improvement despite Slow Start

By Zach Chason

The Westborough football team got off to a start that was less than ideal. A blowout loss versus Nashoba and a heartbreaking one-point loss to North Middlesex have been the only games played so far. Despite their 0-2 record, the Rangers are showing strength, and the silver linings are there.

First of all, the improvement between game one and game two is great. Westborough played like a new team under the lights. They were tougher, stronger, and played harder. Secondly, the performance of Michael Heffernan so far this season is nothing short of stellar. With 5 touchdowns, two of them as kick returns in two games, it seems as though there is nothing that Heffernan can’t do. The offense played great under the lights, putting up 26 points and punting the ball zero times. They were able to move the ball downfield in every offensive set.

The defense certainly needs work, due to being a bit undersized. They have great potential once they learn to use their athletic advantage.

With only one league game played, the Rangers still have plenty of hope for a successful season. North Middlesex is probably the best Mid Wach B team and barely squeezed out their win. Down but definitely not out, the Rangers have are still poised for a successful season. They look to gain their first win Saturday afternoon versus Hudson.
