Westborough looks to continue its winning cross country tradition in the upcoming 2014 season.The Boys’ team, lead by captains Oren Dennett and Tim Forrest are expected to have another strong season. Running with an extensive group of returning upperclassmen, the boys cross country team looks to beat their winning record of 4-2 in the 2013 season. Despite a new coach at the helm, this team of talented runners could be poised for a tremendous playoff run.
The Westborough Girls’ cross country team is just as hopeful as the boys. Looking to improve on their 3-3 record from last year, senior captains Sabrina Goebel and Melanie Barbini have proven to be tremendous leaders for their squad. The Girls’ team has high expectations for the season. They have been looking great and have practiced the actual course a number of times. Ms. Collins, the Girls’ coach, has shown great enthusiasm so far and has stressed the importance of pacing to her runners. “The team looks strong, we’ll be tough to beat” said senior Sarah Casey about the upcoming season. Both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams look good and have the potential to make waves in the playoffs.
