The 2014 Westborough High School fall athletics teams have all started their seasons off with a bang.
Girls Volleyball has had enormous success over the last few years and, with Coach Anderson at the helm, they plan for another run deep into the postseason. They have opened up the season with wins over Bishop Feehan and Central Catholic, both 3-0 in sets. Even though they took a heartbreaking loss to Minnechaug, a 2-1 record looks promising for the future.
Boys and Girls Cross-country have backed up their successful history with wins over Hudson in each of their first meets.
Field hockey is off to another undefeated start with three very convincing victories to begin there campaign. All three of these teams will be seeking a spot of their own in the district playoffs this year.
The boys golf team coached by Mr. Rota is sitting at a .500 win percentage and have not lost at the Westborough country club with a stellar 2-0 record. If they continue to play well at home they will have a very easy ride into the playoffs.
The Football team has a big season opener on Saturday, September 13th against Nashoba Regional, as they look to have another solid season.
To round it off the boys and girls soccer teams both have played three games, neither of them have been defeated. The boys are 1-0-2 and the girls have a powerful 3-0 record, both with big games coming up in the under the lights week against Groton-Dunstable High school and North Middlesex regional.
If the rangers can keep up the intense play and great sportsmanship, they all seem poised to make their own appearances in the 2014 district playoffs.
