WHS’s very own varsity field hockey team won their home opener against the Shrewsbury Colonials this past Friday, September 5.
In the first half, the Rangers were able to score three goals, two by senior captain Michaila Parent and another by sophomore Allyson Rota. By the end of the first half, the Rangers were ahead with a score of 3-0.
In the second half, the Colonials came back to score one goal, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Rangers. With the score now 3-1, Parent put another one in the net, giving the Rangers the 4-1 lead. With only ten minutes remaining in the game, fellow senior captain Vishali Malik scored the final goal, making the final score 5-1, Westborough.
With their record now 2-0, the Rangers look forward to their first Under the Lights game of the season at Leominster High School at 7p.m. on Monday, September 8.
