Proma over Promposals

Proma+over+Promposals

Every girl wants the dream promposal with the dream prom date.  But the reality is that just doesn’t happen.

Nowadays, everyone wants to post their elaborate and creative promposals on social media for everyone to see. Walking down the hall and simply just saying “Do you want to go to prom with me?” is not good enough for our generation. The pressure on the boys to come up with original promposal ideas grows each year.

One junior boy brought his soon-to-be date to Ulhmans, who was unaware of the promposal, and wrote out in huge chalk bubble letters “PROM?” with an ice cream in his hand.  Another junior boy who was already in a relationship with a girl, lit up Christmas lights to spell out P-R-O-M.

After the boys put in so much of their time and effort, girls then feel extremely pressured to say yes even if she does not want to go with the person. There is even more pressure when the girl is asked in front of a big crowd or a public place.

By the countless promposals posted on social media, major competition is created among couples on whose promposal is the best.  In the months leading up to prom, girls stress about the anticipation of being asked or not while the boys stress about who they are going to ask and how.

Prom is one night, one dance, and even so, there is so much proma over promposals.
