This season, the Westborough boys’ tennis team is preparing to make a deep run with the hopes of making it to the state competition.  Last year, the team ended up losing in a tough district final to a perennially strong team, Saint John’s.  This year though, much of the talent that comprised the core of the Westborough team is returning with also a few freshmen who will make a big impact on the team’s success.

Returning players include seniors Ben Czech (captain) and Kishore Rao, juniors Bryan Zheng, Anuraag Gopaluni, Nathan Lookwhy, Jimmy Jedras, Peter Newstein, Vivek Subramanian, and sophomores Alan Dubrosky, Richard Zhu, Tamas Palfi, and Anand Kumar.   Steve Ferris will remain the coach and lead the boys on grueling runs.

Last year, the team ended up tying for first in the division with a record of 16-3.  This year though, the team has continued to improve while its district rivals have lost many of their best players to graduation.  The Westborough boys’ tennis team has a legitimate shot at reaching the state tournament.
