The WHS girls tennis team’s regular season is coming to an end, with an impressive record of 11-2.  With the regular season wrapped up, the team is full of impactful players who have had a huge presence on the court.

Head Coach Henderson says, “I’m pretty happy with how we’ve improved over the course of the season; the team’s effort, dedication, and enthusiasm are right where I’d like them to be, and everyone is playing well.”

Henderson is looking forward to meeting some tough opponents in the play-off season, and possibly taking the win back from Masconomet who beat the Rangers last year in the finals.

Along with the strong will to win, there are many standout players who are making an impact on the team on and off the court.  A player that was noted among the team for her all around success was senior Mira Mclaren.

Sophomore Diya Bhattacharya who plays first singles states, “Mira Mclaren is in her senior year and she is playing amazing. She really encourages the team to tap into their potential and always pushes us on and off the tennis court. She is an inspiration to me, and I can’t wait to see what she does the rest of this season and in college.”

With a coach who has a great eye for the game, and an unbeatable lineup, the girls are looking forward to succeeding in the playoff season.

For their singles line up, senior captain Mira McLaren, sophomores Diya Bhattacharya and Isabel Feldman are two very strong players. Following the singles are the two double teams made up of: senior captain Ellie King and sophomore Elena Chen. In addition are: junior Nicole Nguyen and freshman Sahasra Kommineni.

Bhattacharya concluded, “We are really pushing ourselves to go far this season. My teammates are all good tennis players and hard workers…”
