The Lobby-O Staff

Emily Bartee, a Westborough High junior, will dance several roles in Dance Prism’s 40th
season of The Nutcracker. Bartee will dance the role of Clara in a third of the
performances, in the others she will dance a variety of roles including Russian, Chinese
and Marzipan in the Land of Sweets, as well as the Snow and Flower corpe.

Dance Prism Ballet will stage 10 performances in 5 towns: Fall River, Sudbury,
Worcester, Littleton, and Andover throughout the holiday season. The Company is
based in West Concord and is composed of approximately 30 professional dancers and
apprentices, supplemented for larger productions such as The Nutcracker by serious
ballet students who audition annually for the company.

Dance Prism’s casts include dancers based throughout the northeast region and eastern and western seaboard. Bartee has danced with the Company since 2018 and became a Company Apprentice in
2021. She does her ballet training at Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre in Cambridge and
began dancing at the age of 3, spending most of those years at Laurene Aldorisio’s
Academy of Dance Expressions in Westborough. She plans to pursue a career in
ballet.

The Nutcracker is a beloved holiday tradition for many. It is the story of a girl, Clara,
who befriends a Nutcracker that comes to life and fights the evil Mouse King. They then
travel to the Land of Sweets before she awakens from her Christmas Eve dreamland.
