WHS Digs Pink on October 19

Cancer has impacted the lives of many. Whether it be a friend, family member, or acquaintance, the effects of cancer are undeniable. While some have managed to win their battle, others have not been as lucky. Unfortunately there is no cure; however, there are steps that can be taken to raise awareness: a perfect opportunity to show support right around the corner here at WHS.

On Wednesday, October 19, the Westborough Volleyball program will be hosting their annual DIG PINK match. Due to the generous donations across the Westborough community, over $46,000 have been raised over the course of the past thirteen years.

The evening will begin with both JV teams playing at 4:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m. a ceremony will be held in honor of those who have won their cancer fight, as well as the less fortunate who are no longer with us. Following this ceremony, varsity will be taking on Nashoba in the Fisher gym.

Two dollar donations will be accepted at the door. The Side-Out Foundation, an organization raising money for breast cancer research, has provided a link accepting direct donations: Side-Out Foundation Donation: https://giving.side-out.org/campaigns/18390

On anothr note, students and faculty can wear pink on the day of October 19, both to school, and to the game if attending. Regardless of whether or not an individual has the ability to donate to the cause, this action alone provides a greater awareness of the bravery across cancer fighters.
