Do you want to spice some things up in your room? Are you bored with your plain walls?  Teenagers love to update their rooms in unique and cheap ways. Well, here are the solutions for those problems.

Tapestries up in their rooms, to make the walls feel less dull. Not only do these tapestries add color, but they also add some dimension among the room. Also, if the tapestry is a different color than your wall color, you can buy pillows and maybe even a new comforter to match the tapestry. This can create a new complexion of colors, to broaden the color options to decorate the room even more. Tapestries can range anywhere from $15-$80 and can be purchased on Amazon and other stores like Target.

Twinkly lights are a way to add light to your room. Teenagers usually buy small twinkly lights and drape them over the top of their bed board, or around the edges of the tapestry. If you don’t have a bed board, no worries and you can drape the tapestry on the wall behind your bed. An alternative to twinkly lights is white holiday lights that you may have hanging around.  Well, with permission from your parents, you can take those lights and also drape them around the top of the walls. This can make the room feel more bright more appealing to the eye.

Another way to make your room feel more soothing is by adding sentimental pictures on the wall. One way to arrange the pictures is to drape your twinkly lights on the wall using small nails and clip pictures on the wire. This decor can also be useful to make the room feel homier and welcoming with emotional value.

Katie Farmer who goes to Stonehill College in Easton, MA expresses her ideas on how to create a calming college dorm room atmosphere, “Have a consistent color scheme throughout your room, including your sheets and pillows as well. This can help to make the environment have a more appealing and calming atmosphere. Especially during the chaotic college semesters, the last thing that you want to have on your mind is the inconsistency of your room.” Having coordinating colors in your room/dorm room can ease some of the stress of school, friends, and/or drama.

Adding a blanket folded at the end of the bed can be convenient because it can add even more color which could match your tapestry. Also, blankets are affordable and can make a huge difference. They also are useful for when you want to just lie down on your bed, and throw over a blanket without having to get up.

All of these tips are easy and affordable ways to make your room feel more aesthetic and creative. Also, these solutions can make the college process of decorating your dorm that much easier.
