The girls’ volleyball team advanced to the district semi-finals and played the match at Marlborough on Wednesday, November 9th. The game was predicted to be a challenge because of the team’s record with Marlborough this season.
The Marlborough Panthers ended up winning the first three games of the semi-final match. The first two games were close, 25-18, but in the last round they played, the Westborough Rangers lost 13-25.
“We fought together, and played hard the entire time. But Marlborough just executed better than us. We made a lot of hitting errors and had missed opportunities, but Marlborough deserves the credit because they played great volleyball, commented senior captain Steph Melvin.
This match ended the volleyball season, leaving the girls with a record of 15-6. The team improved greatly this year from last year, because of a strong, committed team and great leadership from the seven seniors.
“Overall, we had an amazing season. We learned from our mistakes and came together as a team as the season progressed. We all love each other on and off the court and that definitely helped us this year,” summed up Melvin.
