Casey Cullen has been teaching at Westborough High School for four years and is well known for his entertaining teaching style. Whether Mr. Cullen is discussing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle names during the Renaissance or his stories of his previous endeavors as a bouncer, there is never a dull moment in his classroom.
Mr. Cullen grew up in Westborough and enjoyed attending Westborough High School. At WHS, Mr. Cullen was inspired by Social Studies Department Head Mr. Belbin to become a history teacher. Mr. Cullen later attended Navy Prep School, University of Prince Edward Island, and Worcester State University. Currently, he is working towards his Masters at Worcester State University.
A lot of students have fallen in love with Mr. Cullen’s World History and Psychology classes. With his life experiences and a relaxed teaching style, he creates an easy-to-learn environment for many students. His lessons, whether it’s about an intellectual movement or a political uprising, will most likely have a relatable topic intertwined within. Mr. Cullen continuously makes learning fun and enjoyable.
When he isn’t teaching, Mr. Cullen can be found coaching on the turf with the football team. Football is Mr. Cullen’s favorite sport and he has coached the WHS football team for three years earning him the nickname “Captain.” He was also a football coach at the college level for two years.
Outside of school, Mr. Cullen enjoys hiking, camping, and cooking. He also attended le Cordon Bleu Institute to expand his cooking skills this summer. He likes to watch Modern Family and Game of Thrones, while his favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption. When asked who his favorite famous person was, he replied, “Bill Clinton. I like the way he talks.”
Mr. Cullen’s advice to the students going to college is to be safe and find a quiet place outside the dorm room to study. Lastly, his advice to students aspiring to be a teacher is to try and shadow one and to be aware of a teacher’s financial and social life.
Mr. Cullen is one of the most beloved teachers at WHS. Mr. Cullen, a teacher who makes his classes the most fun they possibly can be, is truly a “Captain.”

Thank you Lobby Observer for the great article! The Social Studies Department at WHS is second to none and Mr. Cullen is a major reason why. Miss you all.

I love the story and the favorite teacher. Wish all WHS students could attend his class.
