Coach Anderson first became the WHS girls’ volleyball coach in 1999, filling the position just two days prior to the start of the season.
He feels the best thing about being a volleyball coach is watching the kids grow and develop. “The most difficult thing about being a coach is making cuts for the team,” Coach Anderson states.
Many elements are necessary for a volleyball organization to thrive, according to Coach Anderson, the most important being commitment. He looks for integrity, a great attitude, coachability, and love for the game, in his athletes.
Before a game, during practice, or after a loss, Coach Anderson encourages his athletes with mini speeches, such as: “Stay relentless, commit to being great and be willing to fail in an attempt to be great.”
Coach Anderson believes that to have a successful athletic organization there needs to be core values of respect, sportsmanship, high expectations, and tremendous support. Coach Anderson enjoys being the coach of the girls’ volleyball team and a physical education teacher.
He is trustworthy, he makes good decisions, he is respectful, a tremendous role model, and the list could go on forever. All in all, Mr. Anderson is excellent at what he does.
