Have a Wonderful Break!

The First Night o’ Lights and the Ranger Roller Coaster

The First Night o Lights and the Ranger Roller Coaster

Finally! Westborough High School has lights! Walking out from the girls’ volleyball game (which by the way was ridiculous, I am still convinced every single girl on the opposing team was specially bred for volleyball, but still good effort ladies) and turning the corner around the building and seeing a fully illuminated field was one of the best things I’ve ever seen at WHS. The multiple light structures around the field just seemed so right. The teams were warming up, music was playing, fans were rolling in, it was all just right.

Everything looked so awesome, from the lit up press box to the bleachers filled like it was the Thanksgiving football game. If I was on the field playing in this game I would have been so nervous seeing the number of fans that attended the game. The crowd was extremely loud and full of great cheering. Oh and speaking of cheering…THE RANGER ROLLER COASTER.

“ALL ABOARD” your roller coaster attendant number one, Richard Sterndale, yells out.

“Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Ranger Roller Coaster. Now when I ask you to please put your hands in the air and scream. Please keep your hands and feet inside of the vehicle at all times, and now let’s strap up,” I, attendant number two, say.

“Please check your neighbor to see if they are all strapped in. And here we go,” Richard says.

From this point the uphill climb commences. The whole crowd holds onto their straps and starts to lean back and chug. Once we reach the top the chugging stops and everyone’s hands go up in preparation for the first big drop. Then we go down and the crowd leans forward and screams once we reach the bottom it goes up and again so the crowd leans back. For our first left turn the whole crowd sways left and then right and then left again. This process continues for a couple of minutes until the ride ends.

This ride is one of the best cheers we have. Monday night was the first time we as the fans have ever attempted such cheer. But I can say from my perspective, it was incredible. I commend everyone who was a part of this historic night. The first Roller Coaster ride by Ranger fans, oh and the first night of lights. Also great job field hockey team, you straight up Konked Algonk. Congrats on a very successful night for all.
