Just yesterday our 8-2-2 boys varsity soccer team clinched districts with a win over the always tough St. John’s Pioneers. In the 26th minute Brian Goodliffe scored to give goalie Jack Tragakis all the cushion he needed as he recorded his third straight shutout. Though the Rangers have a very impressive record they are only ranked 7th, which seems skewed to me. It seems that Westborough isn’t getting the respect they deserve. We obviously have an extremely talented team, but I guess we just have show the rest of the league what we can do in districts.

The boys golf team also clinched districts and became the Mid-Wach B Champions when Mike Rodenbush, who finished third overall, led the team to a victory over Marlboro. In this match Ryan Iasiello’s scorecard was added up wrong initially which made the score seemed tied, but after a re-count it was shown that he was actually a stroke lower than the original count, giving Westboro the win, and the league title.

The girls varsity soccer team is now 8-5-1, and only one win away from clinching districts. They have four games left and have to only win one of them to clinch.

All this talk about districts is getting me excited. With so many teams on the verge of clinching and others already clinched, the end of October and November are going to be fun. I hope to see as many fans as possible at the rest of the teams regular seasons, and then at the district games.
