After a season full of overwhelming success, the WHS girls golf team is headed into the postseason.

Not only did they end the season with a record of 13-3, they also won their league.

With a new coach Karolyn Choate, not only did the team see improvement on the course, but also with their team dynamic.

Choate commented “I have had a great time this season with the girls golf team.  They are a fabulous group of ladies who are kind and supportive of each other.”

Sophomore Nandita Ganesan stated, “Our new coach is very dedicated to making sure that we are always putting our best foot forward, prepared, and maintaining a positive mindset. She is one of the reasons that we’ve been able to form a stronger bond as a team.”

In addition to the positive impact Coach Choate has had on the program, a player who has had a huge presence on the team as a freshman is Sophie Kamil.

Senior Ainsley Connors shared, “Sophie Kamil, a freshman who’s our #1 player has stood out the whole season. She always has a positive attitude and she works really hard…She’s a great addition to our team this year.”

Not only has this standout player been a medalist of over 12 matches this year, she also qualified for states.

As the team goes into the postseason, they are looking forward to playing on new courses.

With a successful season, along with high hopes heading into the playoff rounds, the girls are prepared to finish off the season strong.
