Next Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. for the first time in four years the Westborough High School Lip Sync Battle will make its return to the WHS stage.

Faculty of WHS have the opportunity to pair up and enter the battle choosing a song and dance to perform.

A fun aspect of the performances is that the faculty can ask students to assist in their performance. Throughout the year students have served as dancers, musicians, and many other fun roles.

The lip sync battle is more than just a fun night for the Westborough community, it’s also a fundraiser. Each year a foundation is chosen for all proceeds to be donated. In the past year’s donations and ticket sales have been sent to organizations like the Red Cross to help aid with hurricane relief. Another year’s lip sync battle proceeds funded the Anne Piscia Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship in memory of Anne Piscia, a WHS colleague who passed away in 2015 of cancer.

This year’s proceeds will benefit the World Central Kitchen and United Nations World Food Program.

Social Studies teacher and Director of the Lip Sync Battle Ms. Gormley shared: “Our first lip sync helped locally, the second nationally, and now I want to help globally.”

She continued on to say: “These two organizations have boots on the ground in critical places that are most seriously in need of hunger. It’s a big crisis, there are lots of causes for world hunger, like natural disasters, war in places like Syria and Ukraine, and climate change which has caused serious issues with farming.”

Ms. Gormley hopes that by donating to foundations that have an impact in so many places, WHS donations will have an umbrella effect reaching a lot of people

You can purchase tickets at all three lunches starting next Monday, March 6. A $5 donation is strongly encouraged.
