Celebrating Girls and Boys Basketball Senior Night

Anna Deane '23 and Yael Bugaev '24

As the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams near the end of their season, their senior nights will take place this week.

The girls’ basketball team has had a successful season with a record of 10-7. They have one regular season game left and have qualified for the playoffs. The girls started the season with a new coaching staff. Referring to head Coach Erin Studivan and assistant Coach Kayla Tonucci, varsity player Ava Nolin said, “They both are incredibly considerate of our player’s mental health and physical well-being. Yes, we are here to play basketball, but our health is what matters. They push us hard but also make it fun.” On February 14th at 6:00 pm, Senior Night will take place and honor seniors Amanda Beckman (captain), Emily Coffey (captain), Erika Stucchi, and Julia Mills. The four seniors have dedicated their last four years to the WHS girls’ basketball program.

As the boys’ basketball team comes close to the end of the season, Senior Night approaches us. The 2023 Senior Night will take place on February 16th at 7:00 pm and honor the seniors Drew Gray (captain), Brady Hughes (captain), James Braden (captain), Razeen Ghani, Chase Crandall, and Dan Stroscio. Each senior has dedicated the last four years to the WHS boys’ basketball program and has greatly impacted the team’s energy for the better. So far in the season, the boys’ record is 4-12. The boys have two season games left and have qualified for the Clark Tournament as the #7 and will face the #2 seed Millbury on February 18th at 1:45 pm at Grafton High School. Coach Willar has worked hard to improve the team and make it a positive experience for everyone. Be sure to stop by the game and stay tuned for what the theme for the student section will be!
