Hastings Christmas Tree Farm: In Need of WHS Volunteers

Hastings Christmas Tree Farm: In Need of WHS Volunteers

Talia Ribbe '25 and Anna Willard '25, Contributing Writers

This holiday season, Hastings is having their annual Christmas tree farm, hosted by the Westborough Civic Club. This is a great opportunity for WHS students to volunteer in a way that helps the community.

With the experience of volunteering there, you get to help families buy their Christmas tree. Volunteers help the families carry the tree from the front lawn to their car. After doing this, they will either ask you to help tie it down, or they will end up doing it themselves.

By volunteering at Hastings, it is a great way to get not only you, but the families you are helping into the Christmas spirit.

On the weekdays, up to four students are able to donate their time either from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the weekends, up to four students can volunteer either from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., or 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Civic Club will have the event run through December 21. This leaves plenty of time for every family in Westborough to pick out the perfect tree for their family.

Not only do they just sell Christmas trees, they also sell other items. This includes wreaths, tree stands, and you also can get a free candy cane.

When asking sophomore volunteer Riley Burns her opinion on the Christmas tree farm, she says “I think it’s a good business they have running. I think it’s going toward a good charitable cause. It’s really easy to volunteer there, and the actual job itself is fun. It makes you feel fulfilled at the end of the day knowing you did something to help your community.”

Overall, if you are a Westborough High School student looking to volunteer, the Civic Club Christmas tree farm is a great way to give back to your town, and get into the holiday spirit.

Come on down to Hastings School, grab a candy cane, and get your family the best Christmas tree in town.
