Apple picking at Tougas Farms.

It’s officially fall, which means that old trends are resurfacing and new ones are growing more popular. Apple picking, for instance, has been a staple to fall family fun for many years. There are many orchards in Massachusetts, but two local options are Tougas Family Farm in Northborough, MA and Honey Pot Hill Orchards located in Stow, MA.

Tougas Farm is located in Northborough, Massachusetts and is a family favorite for all ages! It is a family operated farm that started off by just growing peach and apple trees. Soon, it developed into growing strawberries, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, and pumpkins as well. As the fall season approaches, the farm is open to apple picking fanatics from 9 a.m to 5 p.m all days of the week except Mondays — no reservation is required. Best of all, it’s only 15 minutes away from Westborough High School! This makes it the perfect activity to enjoy with family, friends, and more. Through the years, the farm introduced a farm store, kitchen, playground, barnyard, and an apple stand. The farm store sells different treats such as apple cider doughnuts, honeys, jams, and apple cider. Tougas Family Farm is the perfect place for a fun fall day.

But as this chilly, fall season rolls around, Honey Pot Hill is calling all apple enthusiasts everyday of the week, 9 am to 5 pm for picking. No reservations are required and there isn’t a group limit, so bring along family and friends! The orchard is also more than meets the eye with its copious amounts of trees. Hay rides, mazes, and farm animals are added bonuses for the kids, as well as yummy baked goods including apple cider donuts, pumpkin pie, and caramel apples.
