All eyes were upon Hudson High School Saturday night as the Rangers girls’ volleyball team competed in the Division 2 Central district championship against Hopkinton. Starting the match off strong, the Rangers won the first game 25-21 and opened the second with continued momentum as they pulled out to a 15-9 lead, prompting a Hopkinton time out.
The Hillers came out firing from the break and immediately seized momentum climbing their way back into the match and eventually taking the hard-fought set 25-23. Westboro then lost the third game and started the fourth slow falling into a 7-0 hole. Fighting the entire match, the Rangers persevered and eventually tied it up at 20 behind a raucous crowd. Despite the miraculous comeback they lost four of the next five points and eventually lost the fourth game 25-21 and the match, 3-1.
Junior Gianna Scioletti had a game high 26 kills while freshman Emma Smallcomb had 5 aces. Congratulations to the team on another strong season!
