Senior Keegan Barrett’s parents decided it would be a good idea to visit the country of their heritage, Ireland, this past summer. Barrett toured various famous cities and landmarks and learned a lot about the Irish culture. He visited the famous cliffs of Moher and went to a sheep farm.
Barrett thought the people in Ireland were very friendly and welcoming, and he really embraced their hospitality. Overall the weather was very pleasant which provided a lot of opportunities to explore the country. He tried several different dishes and his favorite was Shepard’s pie.
Barrett and his family went to see a Gaelic football match in the city of Galway, which he described as, “a mix between rugby and soccer.” He also saw a hurling match in the same city; he did not think it was as entertaining as Gaelic football, but it was still interesting.
During his vacation, his family stayed at many hotels and resorts throughout the country in cities like Galway, Dublin, Kilkenny. Even though he stayed at a hotel, he was still able to explore the country and experience Ireland like everyone else.
