Born an ocean away couldn’t keep this man from coming to room A336, doing what he loved… teaching. Although he grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, Mr. McIntyre always had an interest in American history, he found America’s history to be far more influential than Scotland’s.
When Mr.McIntyre left the Universityof Glasgow with a degree in history, he was unaware what career path he wanted to pursue. He started working different jobs, mostly involving finance. With his interest of American History and his joy of giving knowledge, Mr. McIntyre soon found what job he wanted to pursue.
Mr.McIntyre likes teaching so much, he says he still wants to be teaching ten years from now. He loves all the different answers he gets from students, how teachers can learn from students, and the feeling he gets when a student in his class finally understands something.
He got his first taste of teaching a year ago, when he started out as a substitute.
Mr. McIntyre likes this high school more than the one he got educated in. He feels Westborough High School is more diverse in the way it teaches, with debates and more. He says it’s very different from his school, because when he was a student, he spent most of his time doing worksheets and listening to lectures.
Mr. McIntyre feels the greatest issue students face now a days is the economy. A student can earn good grades in high school, but if that student can’t pay for a good college that student’s options are limited. He feels the economy will challenge how students put their knowledge to good use.
Mr.McIntyre looks forward to his future years of teaching at Westborough High School.
