Hope for Japan

Japan has faced tumultuous events recently. In light of recent occurrences, many individuals and organizations have stepped up to help the Japan relief efforts in some way. The Student Council is currently sponsoring a Japan Relief Fundraiser. Chairperson Ayako Mikami has organized bracelet sales during lunches and a donation bake sale last Friday. Ayako has put in a lot of effort into the fundraising efforts.

Ayako says, “We are selling wristbands which say Hope for Japan with a little heart resembling Japan’s flag for $2.00 at lunches. We also [had] a free bake sale afterschool with donations accepted. When people buy wristbands we have them sign red ribbons…to show our support.”

These red ribbons are displayed on a banner in the lobby. The fundraising has gone very well so far. Ayako says the money will “probably go to the Japan Red Cross. My main [goal] is to raise as much money as I can.”

Continue to show your support for Japan. Buy wristbands at lunch or donate. The Student Council’s fundraiser lasts until Friday April 8th.
