The theater on November 19th was packed full of Harry Potter fans for the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I. Many anticipated an action packed, suspenseful, dark movie and the movie did not disappoint.
Director David Yates and screen writer Steve Kloves stayed true to the original novel, which captures the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry.
The movie itself was very dark as it did a good job capturing the disparity portrayed in the book. We appreciated the director’s decision to cut some scenes from the book as it kept a clear focus on the problem in the movie. With that said it was helpful to have read the books and seen the other movies before seeing Deathly Hallows because they helped us to fully understand the events of the movie. To someone who has never seen or read any Harry Potter, we would recommend to at least watch the 6th Harry Potter movie. Parts of the movie could have been a little confusing without previous knowledge of the wizarding world.
We enjoyed the comic relief and mild romance to balance out the sinister plot. We also enjoyed how the actors remained true to their characters which made them seem very believable. We would encourage you to see this movie for an exciting whirlwind experience. Two thumbs up!

This was a great review of the movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.” In my opinion, after reading the novel, I thought that although throughout the first half of the book was mainly about the trio’s journey, I believe that the director left some crucial details out of the movie that would’ve made the film version of the series much more enticing. I felt like the Deathly Hallows Part 1 dragged on a bit, and I wish it had included more of the content of the book. Overall, I thought that the movie was very good based off of the material it included.
