With the fall season upon us, there is no better way to take part in a fun activity and view the beautiful scenery of New England than playing a round of golf. Look no further than Westborough Golf Club to explore and enjoy a timeless sport.
Located at 121 West Main Street, Westborough Golf Club is the perfect place to enjoy a quick and relaxing 9 holes of Golf. The Club was established in 1921 as a 7 hole course but in 1935 it expanded into the 9 holes that are there today. The course is currently under the supervision of the Westborough Recreation Department. One of Westborough’s holes is recognized as one of the shortest par 4’s in Massachusetts. The Hole that holds this feat is Hole 2 at 262 yards. Although the hole could be an easy scoring opportunity for golfers, the heavily sloped fairway can take drives into the woods giving you an early taste of the very hilly and sloped Westborough Course.
Some of the most popular holes on the course are par 5 hole 1, par 4 hole 2 as mentioned before, and par 3 hole 7. My personal favorite is hole 1. A par 5 to open up the course many may see as a challenge, however, it is one of the easiest par 5’s you will find. It brings a great opportunity to jump ahead in the round, with a birdie, or possible eagle opportunities. Hole 1 will lead you to a great round if played well, but will not ruin it if you shoot over par.
My favorite hole has to be the Par 3 Hole 7. An absolute classic and the staple hole at Westborough Golf Club. It’s a perfect 150 yards downhill to a very generous green. If you’re 3 feet away to 20 yards away this green works with you to secure your par. The hole is right by the parking lot so you get to show off your skills to the fellow golfers leaving and arriving. If you hit a really nice shot you may even get a compliment from your fellow golfer. The chances are slim but this is the ideal hole to hit your hole in 1, but even if you bogey you have to admire the beauty of the hole.
When it’s all said and done, a trip to the links will always be rewarding, fun, and enjoyable whether you set a course record, or shoot 50 over. If you need to get out of the house, come check out Westborough Golf Course and enjoy the wonderful autumn sights.
