The end of the school year can feel like the longest months ever. AP exams, MCAS, finals, and many stressful events. However, the end of school just means summer is around the corner. As the 2024-2025 school year comes to an end, a variety of more fun end of school year traditions roll around. Graduation for seniors, prom for juniors, and an event for all ages: Summer Music Fest.
On June 6th, from 6:30-9:00 the Student Council will be holding their annual “Summer Music Festival.” Summer music fest will be held in the lower parking lot of the high school. If you have ever been to the Homecoming festival, Summer Music Fest is very similar. Many activities for all ages are set up on the WHS campus. However, one difference with summer right around the corner, is at Summer Music Fest the weather is often much nicer and the accompaniment of music is included instead of the usual homecoming football game.
This will be Stuco’s third time holding this event. Summer Music Fest is an event perfect for all ages and people as it presents a variety of games, challenges, and activities for anyone to do at each booth. Some past booths Stuco has held have included glitter tattoos, face paint, plinko board, minute to win it, water balloons, bouncy house, and so much more. Additionally, each class office gets to have their own booth as well as a variety of other clubs. Not only is this a good way to support WHS clubs but it is also a great time to learn about different clubs that might draw your attention to join in the future! Many of the booths are completely free that the Student Council presents. However the booths that cost money all are fundraising for the clubs which hold them!
Additionally, Summer Music Fest provides an opportunity for all student musicians to perform any music beside all of the other fun things there is to do at the festival. Stuco describes Summer Music Fest as a way to “support student performers”, while also giving everyone something interesting to do.
Besides music and games, there is also a variety of food trucks at Summer Music Fest. The trucks this year will include Uhlman’s Ice cream, TacoBorough, Say Cheese, and Chick-Fil-A. Coming to Summer Music Fest is a great opportunity to try out some of these local restaurants.
Summer Music Fest is overall an fun event held by student council which both supports clubs and musicians, while being a great end of school year outing for all ages. Stuco describes it as “a fun way to kick off your summer, listen to some live music played by your friends, and join some new clubs, all while enjoying a wide variety of food from local trucks and vendors.” If you are at all interested in signing up to play at Summer Music Fest, it is strongly encouraged by the Student Council. The Student Council hopes to see a great turnout this year so don’t forget to stop by the lower lot June 6th, anytime from 6:30-9:00.
