Sitting in Worcester, just a minute drive from route 290 is a restaurant that is completely filled to the brim with noise and people nearly every night. Self-acclaimed for its soft sweet bread, its peanuts which you can throw on the floor, and of course, its many different cuts of steak, this Texas-themed restaurant tries its best to set itself apart from other steakhouses. If you’ve ever heard of it by word or by social media, this restaurant is none other than Texas Roadhouse, and it is excessively hyped by steak enthusiasts. Is it worth all the hype?
Just like other kids my age, me and a few of my boys were looking for something fun and chaotic to do on a Friday night after a week of boring-old school. We also had to eat dinner, since it was 6:30. Having been there before, I told my friends that our first stop before anything else was Texas Roadhouse. The drive was sort of long, but as soon as we got in there, we knew it was the right place to be.
First of all, there were many teens there like ourselves being loud and having fun, while still being able to eat a classy food like steak. There was also a hopping bar, which would cater to any parents who brought their kids there. The music was upbeat and country, and at times we had trouble talking over it, but it only added to the great atmosphere. Comparing this to other steakhouse chains like Longhorn and Outback, which are usually clean and quiet dining experiences, Texas roadhouse is much more suitable for younger and more energetic people.
The service was impeccable, and almost immediately we got sat down by a young guy with a great sense of humor and put in our drink orders. Already at the table was the bread, which itself is better than pretty much any other restaurant and worth the hype. It was covered in a delectable cinnamon butter which complemented the sweet taste of the bread, perfectly priming my tastebuds for the food that was to come. Most importantly was the food, and we ordered the combo appetizer first with potato skins, rattlesnakes, and mozzarella twists. All three appetizers were delectable, and it took about 30 seconds to be gone. The steak came only minutes later. Every steak was cooked to our liking. I got the prime rib, and it was frankly the best prime rib I’ve ever eaten, and my friends commented on how tender and juicy their sirloins and ribeyes were. After we left, we were very satisfied with the experience, and we agreed our rating was somewhere between a 9 and 10 out of 10.
Don’t just take my word though, take the word of the many other satisfied customers. According to Google reviews, out of 2,482 reviews, Texas roadhouse received 4.3 stars out of 5, which is a great rating. Also take it from a food reviewer from Bon Appetit named Maggie Hennesy, who when traveling to multiple Texas roadhouses around the country, described the food by saying, ¨The flavors were warm and familiar, and the portions were generous’, also showing that even if you are in another part of the country you can pretty much get a great experience at any Texas Roadhouse. Lastly according to Business insider, Texas Roadhouse distinguishes itself from its main competitors, Longhorn and Outback with it’s ¨Memorable hospitality and unique atmosphere,¨ proving that Texas Roadhouse truly has an edge in the steakhouse world.
So, if you’re looking for a place to eat which combines gourmet food with an energetic atmosphere, Texas Roadhouse is the place for you. Yes, it isn’t the shortest drive for dinner, but its competitors, Longhorn and Outback, are also 20-30 minutes away as well. Furthermore, the best cut of steak here in Westborough at Ted’s costs between $40-$50 buck while you can get just as good as a cut at Texas roadhouse for as little as $18. Nevertheless, if you’re craving a tender and juicy cut of meat, then the drive is worth it. So, next time you want to have an unconventional, but unforgettable dinner experience, take a ride down to 535 Lincoln St F in Worcester, and indulge in a fun night at the Roadhouse.
