The first week of March is fully underway, and with that sports fans are beginning to stir about the highly anticipated basketball tournament. March Madness is a yearly basketball extravaganza where college basketball teams compete for the national title. 64 teams battle over the course of the month, with millions of fans watching around the world.
Last year, UCONN took home their second consecutive national title, and they are definitely going in strong for another. It is very hard to judge which team may win the championship, so that is where the fun of brackets comes in. Anyone is welcome to participate in a March Madness bracket, and this adds to the overall fun of the whole tournament.
In a bracket, you are able to predict who you think will win, along with who will knock each other out in the process. Many people participate with their family and friends, and it is a good way to have fun while being competitive.
Many people have different opinions on what they think will happen, so below are Anna and Jordan’s thoughts about who will take home the win this year:
Anna’s prediction: I think that this year, Duke is going to win. They are having a good season, standing at 27-3, and have always made a strong tournament appearance. They have a strong coaching staff and the right team chemistry that could get them the win this season. After losing in an upset to NC State in the Elite Eight last year, it seems like Duke is ready for a well-fought comeback.
Jordan’s prediction: I think that this year, Michigan State is going to win, currently they are sitting at number 1 in the Big Ten conference with a 24-5 record against very solid ranked competition. With amazing coaching by longtime coach Tom Izzo and a very talented roster, Michigan State is ready to make a big run in this year’s tournament.
Be sure to check out this year’s tournament, with games beginning March 18th. There is a lot of competition this year, so we are excited to see how all of the games result. If you would like to participate in the bracket fun, be sure to complete it and submit your guesses before the first game! Good luck!
