You might have heard of the annual event, Ned’s Coffee House, and maybe you’ve attended one too. If you haven’t I would seriously consider going to the next one. Ned’s Coffee House is an annual event at the high school usually held on the first Friday of December and is run by the WHS Literary Magazine Club. This year, Ned’s was hosted on Friday, December 6th, with tickets priced at $10. This event was a worthwhile experience and all of the performers were incredible.
The co-hosts, seniors, Jacob Mullin and Bram Lieberman, were especially entertaining as they showed small parts of a comedic performance in between each act. Music and laughter filled the inside of the lobby performance after performance, as singers and musicians presented their talents. These performances included lots of musical talent, as there were singers, pianists, and some student bands performing. The performers interested in participating in this event signed up ahead of time, so if you are interested in going up on stage next year, you can sign up too!
Sophomore, Ruthwicka Goriparti, a backstage worker, really enjoyed this event saying “The performances were amazing! The singers and all the performers, and even the MCs and everyone backstage, they all did a really good job.” She mentioned, “It’s a great event, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.”
I enjoyed this event not only because of the amazing performances but also because of other things they had there, such as the mini art gallery walk, consisting of art pieces made by other students, as well as the concession stands, filled with baked goods, various snacks and drinks. There was also a raffle, with many nice prizes, including an indoor s’more maker, delicious baked goods, and some beautiful pieces of jewelry. This event is different from other school events. With its dim lighting and friendly atmosphere, there is a sense of excitement that comes from a nighttime performance that you wouldn’t get at a regular event.
Ms. Pelletier, the Literary Magazine advisor, talked about how she loved seeing students going up on stage and expressing themselves.“I’m always blown away by their talent, and the passion, and the power of their performances. I loved tonight’s performances!”
The Literary Magazine did an astounding job with hosting Ned’s Coffee House, and the performers did incredibly. If you’re considering going to this event next year, I would definitely encourage you to go. It’s a great way to spend your Friday night, with music and friends!
