The highly anticipated season 4 of Outer Banks on Netflix was released in October, and has taken the media by storm. While being broadcasted in two separate installments, the first five episodes were published October 10, and the second half of the season premiered on November 7. 

This season left viewers and long time fans of the show in shock. No spoilers here, but if you haven’t watched already, I highly recommend you do so. 

Outer Banks is an extremely admired Netflix original series that started in April of 2020. I’m sure we can all remember the state of the world in this time, quarantine was at its peak and everyone was practically glued to their screens, searching for a new show to binge watch. Outer Banks was the perfect option! Taking place on the beaches of beautiful North Carolina, the show aloud for an escape of the harsh realities of the world at the time. 

Season one received a whopping 2.2 million viewers in the initial release, while season four is currently standing at 15.5 million views, and we are still within the first month of the second half of the season being released. 

But how are the reviews of the newest season? Well, many fans are disappointed. It seems to be a general consensus that the overall appeal and charm of the show has been at a steady decline since season one. And, along with the major events taking place this season, many fans question the reasoning behind such major turns. 

On Monday, November fourth, Outer banks creators told the world that the fifth season of the series is confirmed and will be in process soon. However, this will also be the final and concluding season of the series. 

I personally am excited to see how the creators will decide to put an end to the show, since it has been one of my favorite series to watch since season one was released. As for the backlash on social media, I think this is easily explained and should be expected through the major and shocking turn of events this season had. 

If you have been trying to decide whether to tune in to watch season four or not, I would say overall I do recommend it. Whether you personally like the show’s progression or not, it will always be impressive to see how much attention and traction the show can pick up in such a short amount of time.
