On October 8, Wendy’s released a new limited edition Krabby Patty meal inspired by the popular Nickelodeon TV show, Spongebob Squarepants. For the price of $10.79, the meal contains a burger with a signature sauce, a medium order of fries, and a “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty”. The overall reviews on the meal have been mixed, so we decided to head to Wendy’s and try it out ourselves.
Jordan’s Opinion: Before I tried the burger, I was very excited because I loved the show Spongebob, though the burger was very hyped up and got people excited, the presentation was nonexistent. There was no special packaging or anything to really show that the burger was related to the Spongebob TV show. The “Krabby Patty” burger was a regular burger with special sauce which in my opinion had a strange, kind of sour taste that I did not enjoy. The fries were just regular Wendy’s french fries which in my opinion are just okay. The Pineapple frosty was just a vanilla frosty with pineapple sauce in it, which tasted very bad. Overall I’d give the meal a 2.5/10. I would not try it again.
Anna’s Opinion: Overall, I really did not like this meal. I feel like Wendy’s could have done a lot better in the promotion of the special. I did not hear about the Krabby Patty until I heard other people talking about it. I feel like more commercials and social media posts would have been helpful in increasing the amount of people going to try it out. As for the actual food, I thought the burger was nothing special, and to me tasted like any other burger. My favorite part was definitely the french fries. The Frosty was a huge letdown. For the most part, I did not like the Krabby Patty special and would not recommend or purchase it again. I would give it a rating of 1/10. It was altogether disappointing.
In general, if you are a fan of the show, we would recommend you try it out and make your own opinion!
