Soccer season has just begun and the girl’s Varsity soccer team is ready to take the season head-on! The team has been preparing during the off-season to make sure that this year is the best they can make it. The seniors this year are ready to go out on a bang and have put lots of time and energy into making this season awesome.
I got the opportunity to speak with Senior captain Addison Potenti on her thoughts regarding the season. She shares with me, “We’re all very excited for this season. Having it be my senior year playing with the same girls I’ve played with since I was little has made our team so much closer and built up our team chemistry to a tee”. After hearing Potenti share that with me it allowed me to realize how important it is to play with those same people for that many years, and that it really does pay off when playing for so many seasons with the same girls.
I asked Potenti the question, what she and the other captains are doing about the differences in age ranges on the team, as I know there are many freshmen who are starters this year. She replied with we have an amazing team of younger and older girls and everyone is stepping up to play for themselves and their teammates. Regardless of their ages these girls are putting in hard work during practices every day and are doing everything they can to make it count.”
I found it very cool how there are so many different ages of people playing on the team this year, some of who are even starting, which was an awesome change in my opinion. Lastly, I asked Addison how she thinks the season is going to go and she responded, “I think we will do pretty good this season, surely we won’t win every game and the team knows that, but we hope to thrive to the best our abilities this season.” Best of the luck to the girls this year!
