Rail Trail Flatbread Company located on 33 Main Street in Hudson, Massachusetts is a favorite to many people. Since its opening in 2012, it has received nothing but great reviews. Each season Rail Trail comes out with new and different items to add to their menu. Whether you’re looking for something healthier like a salad or a protein bowl or something heavier like a burger or flatbread, Rail Trail is definitely the place to go. They have a huge selection and a variety of foods to order.

Food:

There are so many different kinds of foods to get when you’re at Rail Trail. I ordered the Hot Tots for an appetizer, and two different flatbreads for the main dinner. For the flatbreads, I ordered the fan favorite Mexican Street Corn flatbread and the Korean Cauliflower flatbread. Everything that I ordered was vegetarian and the restaurant itself has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options for those who need them. The Hot Tots were infused with buffalo sauce and came with a side of bleu cheese dressing. They were a perfect combination of spicy from the buffalo sauce and tangy from the dressing.

Korean Cauliflower is a new addition to the Rail Trail Flatbread Company menu. It uses similar ingredients as one of their old flatbreads. The Korean Cauliflower flatbread has a roasted garlic base and is topped with roasted cauliflower, edamame, and jalapenos and is topped with even more condiments like sriracha aioli and a soy vin drizzle.

The Mexican Street Corn flatbread also has a roasted garlic base and is topped with ingredients like roasted corn and house-made queso fresco. What makes this flatbread unique and an overall hit at the restaurant is their lemon aioli. The lemon aioli is a tangy condiment which adds a whole new dimension to its flavor profile. Each and every ingredient contributed to the whole flavor aspect of the flatbreads. Presentation, temperature, and the portion sizing of the food were spot on as it always is each time I visit the restaurant.

The pricing of the flatbreads depends on their sizing. The smaller size varies between $10.00 – $13.00 and the bigger size varies between $16.00 – $21.00. The average appetizer cost is around $10.00. The pricing points of the restaurant are average and not too pricey.

Service:

Service at the restaurant used to be a little slow, but it changed dramatically since the last time. When I went recently, the food came within 30 minutes and the waitress came to take our order within five minutes of us being seated. Overall it was a quick and easy dining experience and the service was great. The waitress was really friendly and was giving good recommendations to those around me who needed them. The waitress was really helpful and well informed about what the restaurant served.

Ambiance:

It has a nice rustic feel to it and is overall a very clean atmosphere. There is a really unique aspect to the restaurant and that is that there is an open section and you can see how they make their dough. This is also visible to those walking outside the restaurant. The bathrooms were also very clean. The seating arrangements were well done, the tables were clean, the restaurant itself was very clean, and the look of the restaurant was very appealing.

I would recommend this restaurant to those who are looking for a pleasant dining experience and overall really good food. Despite the longer drive from Westborough, it is worth it to make that drive and go to Rail Trail with family, friends, and more. If you decide to go on a Friday or Saturday, I would recommend making a reservation a day or so in advance. It tends to get crowded and because of that it has longer waiting times. It’s a nice place for special occasions like birthdays or even anniversaries. Rail Trail is perfect for any size group big or small.
