The Evolution of Claw Clips

Claw clips are the latest attraction for many teens! Initially gaining popularity through social media, specifically Tik Tok, various people from different age groups have been using this clip to accessorize their hair.

The claw clip emerged in the early ’90s, so Gen Zers see in photos their grandmothers, mothers, and other older members of their family wearing this accessory when they were younger. Now, it is making a comeback as a trend for Gen Z. Its comeback is possible through the help of Tik Tok and many influencers/trendsetters such as Emma Chamberlain, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, to name a few.

“It’s stylish and cute, and keeps your hair up easily,” Sophomore Clare O’Reilly shares.

The clips come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. For those with longer hair, claw clips of larger sizes work the best. Claw clips are versatile. For this reason, many people are drawn to getting one. They can be dressed up for a more fancy look, but also a laid-back look. Many though have resorted to using them more casually.

Their cost for claw clips varies from $1.00 to $4.00 per clip. It depends on the store, and number clips in the pack. Claw clips are available through Amazon, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Walgreens, and any store that sells hair products.

Sophomore Saloni Patel says, “I love how they don’t leave indents in your hair unlike hair ties.”
