Winter and Holiday Activities: COVID friendly!
December 14, 2020
With the winter season coming soon, New England has some of the best winter activities to do despite COVID being in the way. Here are some things you and your friends or family can do!
If you or your family are worried about COVID and being in large groups, Westborough has winter activities that you can do close to home.
One of the most well known activities to do is sledding at the Westborough Country Club. Here, you can find children and teenagers of all ages sledding down all the various hills that the golf course has to offer. Families have been going here for years and years as a free and fun activity.
Another fun activity is for those who take more risks. When the pond water is finally frozen, many people play ice hockey, skate around or even go ice fishing at the different bodies of water here in Westborough. You can usually find people down at Mill Pond, The Reservoir, or even Lake Chauncey.
Finally, for those who are more of a laid back-stay inside type of person, you can invite a friend or two over to your house for a bonfire with s’mores, blankets, music and hot cocoa. The enjoyment of being with your closest friends or family is personally one of my favorite activities. Despite being cold outside, the warm fire and hot cocoa will be worth it!
If you’re sick of being stuck in Westborough, many local areas in Massachusetts have fun, covid-friendly, holiday activities to do!
The Mendon Twin Drive-In is showing holiday classics such as Elf, The Polar Express, Santa Claus, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, etc. They also have a Laser Light Show produced by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Most showtimes start around 7pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays! For for information visit their website: Mendon Twin Drive-In
Another local event that brings the holiday joy is The Magic of Lights, taking place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA. Gillette is holding this event November 13th through January 2nd. This event requires you to enjoy a holiday stroll in your car throughout the stadium to see the different christmas lights and decorations. To buy tickets and learn more about it, you can visit their website: Magic Of Lights
Lastly, for those of you who enjoy being outside and doing outdoor activities, many people enjoy skiing, snowboarding, sledding and more. Locations close by that offer these events include Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, MA and Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA. Outside of Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire are very well known areas for some of the best ski trails.
During times like these, it’s difficult to find the different activities during the holiday seasons but there is always a fun, safe and memorable experience that we all can have. What are your favorite activities to do during the winter season?
