Red Rock Bar & Grill: Still Open, Still Offering Delicious Food

Emily Coffey '23, Contributing Writer

Located at 66 West Main Street in Upton, Massachusetts, Red Rock Bar & Grill has been a local hotspot, serving delicious food, since it opened in 2011. Red Rock has a cozy, rustic atmosphere. Every waiter and waitress is friendly and helpful, and the service is great. Red Rock has two sections that you can choose from when you walk in, the bar area or the regular dining room. Red Rock serves modern American food.

To start off one’s dining experience, Red Rock serves freshly popped popcorn rather than bread or rolls, immediately making the experience unique. Red Rock has 10 appetizers from which to choose. Whether you want classic appetizers or something more adventurous, Red Rock has it all: from crispy chicken tenders and nachos to chicken pot pie spring rolls and warm brie with french bread, to a personal favorite of mine: Poutine. Poutine is french fries topped with hot gravy and covered in melty cheese curds. It may sound like an unlikely combination but it truly is delicious.

For the main course, Red Rock’s menu gives you many options. Whether you want something light or you want to indulge a little more, Red Rock has you covered. Their menu includes a long list of salads, several sandwiches and burgers, as well as some larger entrees. Red Rock is known for their traditional meatloaf with mashed potatoes and warm gravy, as well as their creamy lobster mac and cheese.

Westborough residents Deb and John Banks are regular customers of Red Rock. When they found out Red Rock was doing take out during the pandemic, they gave it a try. On two separate occasions, they ordered the fish tacos, salmon, and lobster mac and cheese.

When asked to compare the quality of the take-out food to the quality when dining in, Deb Banks said, “

All three items were great. I think entrees always taste better when you are dining in because it is just part of the experience. Otherwise, our meals were very tasty and I couldn’t say that their presentation or flavor was compromised.

— Westborough resident Deb Banks

With vegetarian options and a kids menu as well, there is something for everyone on the menu.

While you’re waiting for your meal, Red Rock’s back lawn provides some entertainment. With a beach volleyball court anyone can use, you can burn off a few calories before devouring your meal.

When it comes to dessert, Red Rock is known for the different bread puddings they feature each day. But if you’re looking for ice cream, you can venture outside to the building attached to Red Rock. It is called Good 2 Go Creamery and offers a variety of ice cream flavors perfect to end your meal.

During this pandemic, Red Rock has remained open for takeout. Orders can be placed online or by phone call and be picked up at their location.

According to Banks, “The pickup went smoothly, and they brought [the food] right out to the car wearing gloves and masks.”

Normal hours are listed below, but they may vary due to the pandemic. I highly recommend going to check out Red Rock especially once you can dine in.
