The Ranger Athletes of the Week is the Lobby-O’s new feature for the 2018-19 school year. Each week, we will be highlighting the best performances from WHS sports throughout the week. For the year’s first edition, we have taken into consideration games since the start of the season with an emphasis on last week. To all Ranger athletes, we hope this serves as incentive to perform well, especially in the brightest moments.
Jake Hughes ‘19
Boys Soccer
The senior captain kicked off the season leading BSoc to a big win over Shrewsbury. Hughes netted three goals to complete the season’s first hat trick in a 6-2 season-opening win. As a junior a year ago, he ranked in the top 5 in the league with 11 goals on the season to go along with 3 assists.
Lexi Austin ‘19
Volleyball
Senior Lexi Austin led the Rangers to a huge 3-0 sweep at home over perennial power Duxbury last Thursday, the runner-up to the Rangers in last season’s state semifinals. The outside hitter racked up 10 kills and 10 digs in addition to 6 crucial aces throughout the game. A day later, she recorded 15 kills in a tough loss at Shrewsbury.

I think this article does a great job of telling us what the athletes did and why they deserve to be a Westborough high school athlete of the week. I also think they did very well of keeping the story short but yet still giving the reader enough detail of the athlete. Overall I think this article is very well done.
