This is Us: A cliffhanger in every episode

By:  Kayleigh McCabe and Abby Papetti
After winning the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Show this past January, NBC’s hit drama This is Us continues to touch the hearts of many Americans across the nation. It’s realistic characters and suspenseful plot keeps viewers counting down the days till the next episode. Currently,  three episodes into its second season, This is Us has already sparked new questions, predictions and emotions as it continues to reveal more information about the past and foreshadow future events.

This Is Us is about a family that seems perfect:   a loving husband, three children, a hardworking mother and more family members you meet along the episodes.  Rebecca Pearson played by Mandy Moore, is a mother who is expecting triplets but due to complications at birth only two of the babies survived. As the loss of their third child is devastating, Jack Pearson, played by  Milo Ventimiglia, finds a child who was dropped off at a fire station earlier that morning. He knew that this baby was a miracle and wanted to adopt him.

The three children, Kate, Kevin and Randall, grow up together over the years and the show flashes back to when they were young and their lives now as adults. The connection between the past and present in each episode keep viewers questioning everything they thought they had known previously and also bring new questions to the table. Because the show tackles all sorts of family issues, viewers can relate to the characters; and therefore, want to know the answers to the family problems.

As always, social media plays a big role in getting the word out about what is happening in the show. Social Media apps such as instagram, twitter, and facebook keep daily updates after each show that premieres every Tuesday at 9pm.

This is Us leaves cliff hangers almost at the end of every episode which has viewers debating and arguing over social media of what they think will happen in the next episode.

I like how you included some information on the show to draw the readers in without giving the whole show’s plot away.
