WHS Guidance Secretary's Dynamic Duo

guidance

Mrs. Donna Latraverse and Mrs. Gayle Kenefick are the WHS Guidance Office Secretaries. In many ways, they are the heart of the Guidance Department.

Mrs. Pellegrino, one of the guidance counselors who works with Mrs. Latraverse and Mrs. Kenefick describes the duo as, “Unbelievable and nice to work with. They’re like our frontline. They have a very important role and everything is organized through them. They’re essentially the backbone of the guidance department. People underestimate the effort they put in everyday and the amount of stress they deal with. They are empathetic and care so much about the kids. We’re lucky to have them.”

Mrs. Latraverse and Mrs. Kenefick’s typical day includes making appointments for students and their counselors, greeting people, managing interns, processing senior college envelopes, filing, answering phones, helping counselors, data entry, and much more!

This dynamic duo weren’t always holding down the fort in Guidance. Mrs. Latraverse attended hairdressing school and worked as a hairstylist for 15 years before becoming a guidance office secretary. She has worked at WHS for four years, and previously she worked at Mill Pond and Armstrong Elementary School in. Mrs. Latraverse loves her job, but is sadly leaving because of a job offer she has received to work for the Assistant Superintendent in Westborough as an Administrative Assistant. However, Mrs. Kenefick will still be at WHS.

Mrs. Kenefick attended Briar Wood College in Connecticut. Some of her jobs after college and before working here include a hydro geologist, working for an environmental firm, setting up computers, teaching Microsoft word, and she was in charge of some administrators. She’s been working at WHS for the past 17 months. The reason she came to Westborough is that she “needed a change.” She likes the quiet environment, and she likes kids. Overall, Mrs. Kenefick really enjoys her job, but says it’s a challenge.

The Guidance Department has hired a replacement for Mrs. Latraverse. Her name is Ms. Morse; she will be joining Guidance on December 16.
