On Thursday night, March 10 The Lobby Observer staff attended the 41st annual Greater Boston High School Newspaper competition Awards Program at Suffolk University in Boston. We were excited to enter the competition and were thrilled to be invited to the banquet.
Although we did not win any of the awards given, we still had an invaluable experience. During the course of the night we were able to meet with Suffolk University Communications and Journalism professors. We also met some of our fellow newspaper editors from other schools. After talking with them and seeing their papers, we understand why they have some of the best high school newspapers in the state.
We also enjoyed listening and asking questions of Boston Herald sportswriter Mark Murphy. Mr. Murphy told us about his daily responsibilities and his thoughts on high school journalism and the direction of the newspaper industry.
As the editors of your high school newspaper, we are committed more than ever to making The Lobby Observer the best paper it can possibly be. We thank everyone in the Westborough community for their continued support.
Sincerely,
