Traditionally, WHS has had a student-faculty basketball or volleyball game during the last period of the final day before February vacation. Last Thursday, though, Mr. Smith announced that he was postponing the annual game.
“With all the weather related days and early dismissals, I feel it is most appropriate to have a regular schedule for Friday February 18,” read part of Smith’s email to faculty.
Smith’s decision to postpone the game came after he spoke to six period teachers who felt they needed the time to cover curriculum missed due to the lack of class time.
Smith has not decided yet when the student-faculty game will be rescheduled, but is considering a date in early May.
For over 30 years the school has held “competition day” the last school day before April vacation. The day focuses on the four graduating classes competing against each other in athletic events during sixth period. Smith reassures the community that this event will still be held as scheduled.
