Countdown to April Break!
Have a Wonderful Break!

Fans Staying Loud…All Five of Us

I just got back from the boys varsity soccer game where the Rangers showed off their ability to put up big numbers. Our Ranger boys defeated Groton Dunstable 5-2. Now if you don’t watch or know the slightest thing about soccer, that score wouldn’t stick out. Now I am familiar with soccer (mostly through FIFA 07, that’s right 2007, still the best version of FIFA. Oh and I love the World Cup) and while watching this game I was nearly brought to tears with the excitement of seven goals in one game. Now some may argue (those other four students at the game) that I wasn’t ever close to tears, but I was. Trust me. The first goal of the game came very early on and from that moment on I expected maybe two goals more. But no.

Brian Goodlife (#11) continued the onslaught with the best high school soccer goal I have witnessed live. Goodlife was standing on the ten yard line on the actual number 10 on the left side. He took a few steps and launched the shot. Now for those who don’t know where the numbers are in relation to the net, here’s the best explanation I can do without using mathematics. FAR. So as this shot rocketed to the net, the student section of five started to go wild. The ball then ricocheted off the far post and into the back of net. Honestly it was amazing. Just because of how good the shot was, I will excuse Brian and his kind of awkward running celebration. But wait there’s more. The next goal was also scored by Goodlife. This one was not anything in comparison to his first, then again of all the goals I’ve seen, none are. So I believe it’s safe to say One-One got it done this game.

As soon as the score became 4-0, the game seemed all but over. But Groton made a late run and scored two quick goals. So sensing the need to tack another one up on the scoreboard the Rangers, well, did so. With the game well in hand, and only two dedicated student fans left (Richard Sterndale and I), the Rangers wasted out the clock.

Now like I always do, I will now focus on the fans. With the fan section kind of weak today, we didn’t expect too much to be said to us. Oh how I was wrong. We had multiple parents come up to us and acknowledge our dedication and told us how much they love having us there. Not to mention the players themselves appreciated having us there. For some the thought of going to a soccer game doesn’t seem fun, this I do not know why. I was having an extremely fun time today cheering on my classmates and friends as they played hard and got a win. Now I bet if you played on the soccer team you would love having fans come to your game. I play baseball and the best fan section we get all regular season is about twenty kids sitting on the hill behind the backstop (which I love, I love any fans that come to our games). Maybe some of you are saying, “Night games are the only fun games to go to”, you know what I say to that. You’re wrong. I had a great time today, and I hope to be able to attend more games in the future. So what I ask you is please show our soccer teams (boys and girls) some respect and support them. They want us there, and they deserve to have some more fans.
