Countdown to April Break!
Have a Wonderful Break!

    PDA: Ew.

One may think high school relationships will last forever, but I must say the harsh reality of the matter is: it’s probably not going to happen. As many students roam the halls of WHS, one may observe the different types of couples; the ones who know each other’s schedules like the back of their hands, the ones who pretend they don’t see each other as if they were in middle school, the ones who everyone secretly wishes they could have a relationship like, the ones who flirt ever so cutely, and the ones who continually slobber on each other. Nasty.

As a blogger, I am supposed to casually talk about things that interest me, or in this case, disinterest me. In a recent poll at WHS in which I conducted, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of WHS students find PDA nauseating and repulsive. If you have never seen the act of PDA, consider yourself lucky, or let’s face it, it’s probably you I am talking about. Kidding. But anyways, the common sight that most are disgusted by is the making out in the hall ways, the grabbing of the hips, the obnoxious gaze into each other’s eyes while holding each other’s faces, and the occasional butt slap we all sadly laugh at. There is a time and place for this matter, such as in front of a camera in Hollywood acting a skit or in your home secluded from society.

Of course there are the exceptions. The couple who holds hands as they walk to class, or the ones that give a brief, non heartfelt hug at some point during the day are totally acceptable. As long as hands and faces are kept to their selves, all should be fine. “Excessive kissing is annoying and awkward, but hand holding and hugs are acceptable,” according to a well defined senior. Other ideas about PDA are, “Making out in the hallways are a little too intense,” and “PDA should really stand for: Pretty Damn Annoying” (Pat Bryant). Bottom line, no one really wants to see you groping your significant other. Use the rule of “Would you do this in front of your grandmother?” Please be courteous of others. It’s gross.

Well Steve, I agree with the fact that a nice hug or a kiss is a great pick-me-up, but I must say that watching people make out, intensely, is a tad bit unnecessary, wouldn’t you agree? Especially for a school setting.

I think High school relationships can last forever. I don’t think showing affection is a bad thing, but needs to be done more. There’s no problem with giving or receiving acts of love throughout the day. It is a nice pickmeup
